Must find a way to put levels of processes together and put it into the computer. Organism to ecosystem hierarchy: organism reacts to a stimulus in the environment it lives in. Connect regulatory elements by taking advantage of hierarchal organization of a system that already exists. Cells are composed of organelles, genes, and proteins: cells react to stimulus in a certain way it already exists. Cells form a tissue, tissues form an organ and organs form an organ system. Took advantage of hierarchy in engineering (building computers) Take advantage of engineering principles and the level of hierarchy to build machines.
