Document Summary
W/ meiosis ii difference is that its haploid. Another difference is w/ mitosis the 2n number stays the same, meiosis it is reduced 2n n. Shift from 2n-n occurs in the 1st division meiosis 1 (reductions) Have only one copy the maternal or paternal you will have 2 chromatids however. Recombination always takes place (~4/chrome) if they have not gone under recombination then they will not be able to segregate properly. Only difference is that this is haploid (only one parental chromosome) You get one maternal and one paternal chrome but not really b/c recombination cross over in prophase 1. In theory its 50% of each but reality = not exactly. Crossing over occurs at prophase 1 and then lining up at metaphase. Non sis chromatids coming tog at centromere. Maternal and paternal non sis chromatids line up (2/4 from pair of homologous chromosomes)
