One of the worst pandemics that was caused by a virus. Large masses of troops were travelling together, which made this a breeding ground for viruses and a pandemic. This had a large effect on healthy young adults. Young people have stronger immune systems than older people, making it strange to see high mortality rates in young individuals. The immune response may be the cause. This could have caused such a severe immune response that individuals w/ stronger immune systems were more susceptible. Small infectious particles/agents that replicate inside the living cells of host organisms. They are unable to replicate on their own. There is a huge variety in viruses (i. e. dna/rna genomes) Dna is in the middle, which is surrounded by a protein coat. They can affect every type of organism. Seven characteristics are characteristics of all living organisms. Not all of these characteristics are fulfilled when analyzing viruses and retroviruses.
