Document Summary

Most genetic techniques are complementary pieces of dna. Can perform a variety of experiments but all rely on complementarity. Spots which bind to the glass slide and each spot contains a particular dna probe but contains many copies of that one probe. Labelled dna or cdna and essentially stick it to the slide and are hybridized highly specific. An entire transcriptome can be assessed on a single chip. You can get two cells and get an idea of all the genes expressed, makes a cdna library. You can have assessing of an entire transcriptome on a single plate. All common snps in a genome can be assessed on a single chip. Snps account for a large portion of the variation between individuals. All snps account for differentiation and when you talk about the entire human genome, you used to want the reference point for commonality, now you look at the differences in the human genome.
