Philosophers before him wanted to talk about the physical world. But he talks about the human behaviour. Most of his life was during the peloponnesian war. He was a figure among the upper class. Many other followed/talked with/learned with him: he says he assisted other to produce new things. Socrates had no school, just wandered athens asking people questions. People followed him around listening about what he had to say o: he never insisted payment, he gave free teaching. 399 trial: private citizens brought him to trial for corrupting children, not believing in god, and introducing new god: given the death penalty, he proposed to get free meals for life for helping people. All philosopher after were influenced/taught by him: he made a tremendous amount of influence on philosophy. Socrates did not leave anything behind in written form. Plato was a part of the socratic society o. Left athens because they killed socrates, the greatest man in his opinion.
