Because it is the better material for sculptures, whenever you see a marble statue it is almost surely an imitation of a bronze statue. Usually the bronze statue are the more faithful imitation because they could just be poured into a mold and be almost the exact same. Once a statue became popular, it would be quickly reproduced. The delphi charioteer, made of bronze, is probably very close to an original, very rare, we are lucky to have it. Unlike the other statues, there is one athlete that is clothed, the depiction of the garment.
