Keep an eye on the relationship between dante and virgil; also the sinner. Virgil is comforting dante (page 757, line 30: The more knowledgeable individual towards dante, father-like, protective. The souls belong neither to heaven or hell. The sinner was agreed to be pope celestine v, who abdicated only five months after his election and allowing the election of boniface viii. They remind of the significance of hope (because hell is hopeless). The weak humans are characterized by the relationship to their future (human are future-oriented, we expect things to happen in the future). There is no hope here, there is no future in hell, just pain after pain, torture after torture. As soon as they enter hell, they can hear crying, yelling, hell-ish noise => cacophony noise, terrible. Each of these inferno/ paradise/purgatory : ends with stars ==>the divine lights. He sees the people: they are the lukewarm: neither good or bad.
