Narrative a sequence of events, real or imaginary, that are arranged as a record or imitation of life. They wanted to warp time: early technology in changing the relationship between the past, present & future. They were concerned with how to pass information to the future: make the past present to another time. It offered a way to create a sense of continuity and coherence. Logical succession of events: certain elements are introduced, they remain and then they change. How things change over time according to the sequence: structure. Organic unity can observe it as a complete object. Characters: agents that propel the plot forwards, point of identification for reader. Tropes: used in stories, recur signal it"s a story, genre type of story. Typically, a lesson at the end: didactic it teaches. Storyteller imagines a cat that can speak zebraic. Imagines an alternate reality: things that don"t happen do happen.
