Inevitable that the royal family be executed, their commitment to the new republic of france not being shown. Kings execution slightly controversial as a vote to execute him only wins by 1 vote. Reason not to kill the king is because it would intensify the war with prussia. Up until the execution the constitution of france was to put forward a constitutional monarchy. Wanted them to live under a constitutional monarchy. The death makes it unclear how france are going to stop the war between the other. Execution of the king means that france is at war with a majority of european countries. The committee pretty much takes charge of france, and has powers that only the king would dream about. Most important people: maximilien robespierre 1758-94 (becomes extremely powerful, runs france) louis antoine de saint just 1767-94. Both followers of rousseau, convinced absolutely that perfection of human nature can be achieved if all those that cause damage be removed.
