Three reasons for the decentralization of western europe in the early middle ages, the context that necessitated knights. Their origin was from political activities, a decentralization of governments after the roman emperor collapsed due to lack of money and men. There the barbarians set up states and they wanted to make centralized states but their kingdoms kept collapsing because they assumed the land was theirs and then they divided their land equally among all their male heirs.
