PART 1. Causes of the War of 1812
- British aggression on the seas
o Part of the continuation of the American revolutionary war

filled with people and goods
- Economic depression in the early 1800s
o British seizure of 400 American ships played a role in an economic downturn in
the United States
o Two major exports: tobacco and cotton
Really needed these goods to be sold
Worldwide decline in the price of the commodities
o Banking system in an infantile situation
