This film focuses on Type 2 Diabetes, also known as Diabetes Mellitus. This form of diabetes is characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood and the body’s inability to regulate glucose levels properly. Type 2 diabetes can be managed through changes to lifestyle and medication. Undiagnosed or untreated diabetes can have serious short- and long-term complications. Diabetes affects many major organs, including your heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes and kidneys. Long-term complications include cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, kidney damage, eye damage (potential blindness), and foot damage (sometimes requiring amputation).
