Type 2 diabetes can be managed through changes to lifestyle and medication. Undiagnosed or untreated diabetes can have serious short- and long-term complications. Diabetes affects many major organs, including your heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes and kidneys. Long-term complications include cardiovascular disease, nerve damage, kidney damage, eye damage (potential blindness), and foot damage (sometimes requiring amputation). What impact does genetics have on the incidence of type 2 diabetes: major impact (also lifestyle) Some people/groups have higher instance of having genes for diabetes.
