Stress hormones releases cortisol which floods blood stream with glucose and increases heart rate and blood pressure. When you cant control your stress and too much cortisol is produced it can inhibit memory and cause areas of the brain to shrink and reduces immunity. An animal has control over his life goes wherever he wants does what he wants. In contrast subordinate animals have no control they have to be vigilant all the time an dare in a state of constant stress so more cortisol released.
