Health Sciences 2300A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Pubic Tubercle, Adductor Tubercle Of Femur, Pubic Arch
Document Summary
-> before was three bones, then they fused together to create one. But good to know all three for landmarks. Iliac spine (asis) aka the beginning of the crest. Pubic tubercle = lateral to the pubic symphysis (a cartilage disk: large foramen (possibly the largest) the obtuator foramen, little goes through it, covered by a membrane. Nothing of significance runs through this large foramen. These help in muscles attachments: anterior interior iliac spine = (important for muscle attachment) -> easy to differentiate male vs. female hip: narrow pubic arch in males, in the female the arch is wide, not much of an arch. Ischial tuberosi = is a roughening of the bone, muscular attachment for many muscles, also what you sit on. Just above the ischial spinal, creates two notched for two important nerves. You have the hip and head of the femur, they are different in size!
