Health Sciences 3300A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 24: Mons Pubis, Female Ejaculation, Vestigiality
Document Summary
Lecture 24 - vagina, external genitalia & mammary glands. Starts off at the fornices and has erogenous zones. The vaginal orfus (opening) is found inferiorly. Significantly sensitive & contains glands that are responsible for female ejaculation w/ many nerve endings. Contains skene"s glands which are homologous to the prostate glands w/ a significant amount of stimulation. The mons pubis is more exteriorly and provides protection to pubic bones and gives rise to other structures. Labia majora are covered w/ hair and arch over the clitoris and creates a hood. Labia minora are a lot thinner, don"t have hair follicles, and directly outline the vestibule. Also stretches over the clitoris and creates the foreskin - similar to what covers the glands of the penis (same origins & are quite similar in sensitivity and erectile function) The external urethral orfus is anterior and the internal orfus is posterior.
