Reward things used to modify or manipulate behavior- material rewards. Reinforcement: personal interactions- verbal and non verbal. Bring together a relationship between behavior and its consequence. Describing the regulation of behavior by use of tokens to influence or alter the outcome. Examples of token rewards: - what you earn. Undesirable behaviours can be eliminated through the use of token rewards. Desirable behaviours can be enhanced through the use of token rewards. Token rewards have a spill over effect on non-target behaviours. Jones 1977 improve skill at a summer bb camp. Earn colored rings for skill execution that can be exchanged for rewards. Other observation: satisfaction and enjoyment, attendance and promptness. Gradually work to eliminate the token system as the desirable effect are entrenched. Definition: any personal interactions (evaluative comments or reactions) that will increase the occurrence or strength of behavior or performance. Positive reinforcement: introduction of something positive that increases or maintains a response.
