Al study: this is a pointing study, and on a certain # of trials, that target jumped either. Person has had a stroke in the left cerebral hemisphere, therefore lost level of equilibrium between the right and left hemisphere. Activity decreases in left hemisphere, and activity increases in right hemisphere. Therefore the right hemisphere trys to do everything and exert influence on the left hemisphere (see arrows at the top of the picture) There is a disequilibrium between the affected and unaffected hemispheres, so when someone has a stroke, you want someone to engage their affected hemisphere so that it can recover more quickly and more completely. So the thought behind rehab is to turn down activation in unaffected hemisphere, or turn up activity in the affected hemisphere.
