Logging copies: keep master copy, work with a separate copy. Typically uses an emergent framework to group data and look for relationships and meanings. Process is conducted during & after data collection. In depth examination to provide detailed descriptions and understandings. Ex. describing context, participants, classifying results into manageable units for analysis. Idea categories that emerge from grouping data: big picture based on repetition of data. Codes: labels sections (ex. lines) of text to be able to group and compare similar/related pieces of information. Concept mapping: displays relationships to organize and structure knowledge. Literature: matching your data to what exists in the evidence-based. Agreed- upon professional definitions: common sense constructs, values, research philosophy, previous experiences. Categorizing data to find themes, patterns, types. Schematic device to represent embedded concept meanings.
