Anxiety/ arousal and anxiety/ stress used interchangeably in sport literature: not synonymous; measured differently; require different, stress techniques to regulate. Present physical/ cognitive responses to environmental demand: anxiety. Negative feelings of worry/ threat about future event- perception of what"s happening around me, feeling of worry, a perception, can be anxious about a certain stressor based on how i see it. Intensity of behaviour on continuum from sleep to extensive excitement- how my arousal level can be physiological, it can also be cognitive- impact and response is arousal level: arousal. Stressor: any demand on mind or body. Distressor: demand resulting in harm to mind or body. Ex. the crowd can cause stress, but maybe stress increases arousal level and perceive it in a positive way, therefore, i"m not anxious.
