Kinesiology 3388A/B Lecture Notes - Lecture 19: Association Football, Psych, Controllability
Document Summary
Reality created by our senses (creating reality from internal processes) Imagery incorporates all the senses: sight, sound, touch, kinesthetic, smell, taste recreating that image. The more senses i can bring in, the better it will be when i"m. Ex. swimmers- certain smell in the pool. Smells- may not enhance the way we play but they are important. Sports involving taste- swimmers- water, boxer- could be because they tie into the game bleeding, mouth guard. Key factors: perspective- eyes or video (1st or 3rd person, speed- slow, fast, pause (can pause, speed up or slow down video in your mind, controllability- moving, still, vividness- how clear. Imagery is a skill- certain people can do it better then others with practice. Tend to rely on visual sense- if we block it out, tend to hear more, smell more, etc. Typically hardest one to recreate is smell, but if you smell something it will trigger a memory more then anything else.
