Physical or anatomical connections of the brain. White matter tracts to and from regions. Observed through diffusion tensor imaging (dti) or dissection. Sometimes structurally connected but don"t have to be. Share a temporal correlation of activity during events (share patterns but may not be physically touching) Usually assessed through bold fmri: bold: blood oxygen level dependent -use blood blow to determine what areas are active, areas that activate together during a task or resting = functional network. Each neuron connects to thousands of others. Male brains are 8-13% larger than females. No pain receptors in brain -meninges do but not the brain. Behaviourists believe that you can get a behaviour based on just the stimulus and that you don"t need to look at the processes that may cause conditioning i. e. pavlov"s dogs with unconditioned/conditioned stimuli/responses. Would argue that a coffee before an exam leads to better marks and didn"t care to investigate why. More systematic than behaviourism with mental processing.
