Typical gram stain of genital specimens: presumptive diagnosis in males, not females. Gene probe commercially available, but gives no info on antibiotic resistance. Id of this organism often results in civil or criminal proceedings. Isolation from prepubescent females is primary evidence of sexual abuse.
