Established framework of key factors that seemed to determine health status. Today we know that there are social determinants of health that dig even deeper. Furthermore, they are all interlinked to each other. That being said, they are all still connected to the traditional concept of medical care. World health organization: social gradient, stress, early life, social exclusion, work, unemployment, social support, addiction, food, transport. Health canada: income & social status, social support networks, education/unemployment, working conditions, physical/social environments, healthy child development, health services. Week 4 lecture notes: gender, culture. These are all due to discrepancy in social justice . Overarching recommendations: improve daily living conditions, tackle the inequitable distribution of power, money, and resources, measure and understand the problem and assess the impact of action. For many racial minorities discrimination is a frequent occurrence. Being pulled over for being the wrong colour. Discrimination (real or perceived) puts the body on alert .
