There are controversial viewpoints about this because not all researchers agree on whether data collection should stop before analysis starts or if it should be a process that occurs concurrently. Therefore the researcher needs to state which process is being used. For example: many researchers conduct preliminary analysis of their interviews and collected data in order to determine areas for further additional data that needs to be collected. Many believe that the stages of data collection and analysis should be integrated; whereas others think it should be separate. Overall goal of data analysis: to make meaning out of massive amounts of text or data.
