Pd is a rigid, maladaptive pattern of perceiving, thinking and relating that impairs social or occupational functioning. Eccentric behaviour: paranoid pd, schizoid pd, and schizotypal pd. Schizoid personality disorder: characterized by a lack of interest in social relationships, a tendency towards a solitary lifestyle. Fearful-anxious behaviour: avoidant pd, dependant pd, and obsessive compulsive pd. Splitting - adoring then devaluing people: unstable interpersonal relationships. Identity/self-image distortions; feelings of emptiness: negative affect - moods extreme, & alternate rapidly, antagonism - hostility/anger/irritability in relationships. Signs and symptoms of dissociative disorders include: memory loss (amnesia) of certain time periods, events and people, depression, anxiety suicidal thoughts and attempts, a sense of being detached from yourself. Cause of borderline pd: neglect, physical and sexual abuse.
