Function of male reproductive system produce hormones and sperm. Vas deferens contracts to expels sperm: vas sectami you cans till make sperm but it cannot be expelled. Epididymis sperm is stored and matured. Seminiferous tubules sperm is made (spermatogenesis: production of testosterone and sperm through spermatogenesis. Lay outside the tubule and produce testosterone. Spermatogenesis initiated at puberty (not before because there is not enough testosterone) Spermatogonia (46) some become primary mitosis (46) and some stay spermatogonia. Primary to secondary by meiosis 1 (secondary genetically unique (23 - haploid)) Secondary spermatocyte to 4 spermatids (haploid) by meiosis 2. Spermatozoa (23) have the tails in the lumen. Transported bound to androgen binding proteins (protein carrier) Testosterone levels are tightly regulated by the anterior pituitary, which secretes its own hormones released by the hypothalamic-hypophyseal portal system depending on the signal from the hypothalamus. Gnrh is released from the hypothalamus to stimulate the ap to make gonadotropins.
