Ideologies can lead people to do things: people get together to do things and are motivated by a certain type of beliefs. It is what men think that determines how they act: you need to understand ideas, that"s what truly motivates people. Ideologies: systems of ideas with histories, cant define any idea that does not have history. Ideologies is an attempt to make sense of world events. Maybe it not: widespread disagreement about how to evaluate: need to give reasons. Ideologies provide standards for evaluating social and political phenomena. Political program (prescription: the strategy/ what to do, explanation is a diagnosis, the program is a prescription for a sick patient. A question that ideology asks and answers. What are not necessarily ideologies: anything in ism , doesn"t mean its an ideology, terrorism: a strategy not an ideology, liberalism: an ideology, democracy: an ideal, religion: emphasizes god and afterlife.
