Binocular cues: requires 2 eyes: retinal disparity: where the image falls is not identical to both eyes; can conclude depth (ie. which object is further away) Muller-lyer illusion (arrowheads: we see it because we live in a rectangular world, we constancy change shape and size in our daily life. Constructionists: create meaning from basic elements or features. Feature analysis is a bottom up process: register small components and build into larger, meaningful units. Biederman: recognition by components: geons, image break down into lines and edges. Top down processing: not looking at features to build it up. Looking at hypothesis and testing it: predicting what something is based on the context. Bottom up and top down processing can work together. We don"t attend to everything (too overwhelming)
