Disability (medical innovation and advanced education) (traditionalism and patriarchy) We are having fewer babies, which affects society. Because of medical advancements, people who would have died 10 or 20 years ago are now living we have to adapt both teaching styles and the ways the buildings are built to accommodate them. The power is in medical innovation and advanced education, but the people are in traditionalism and patriarchy. Canada is an aging and increasingly gendered society: women are living longer than men, lowest birth rate (among g8 countries) High growth south versus low growth north: we are fearful of people immigrating because we fear they are taking advantage of us, population growing faster in the uneducated places. Malthusian theory: famine results when food supply is surpassed by demand of population size: food grows 2 + 2 = 4 +4 = 8. People grow 2x2 = 4 x 4 = 16.
