Class, conflict, and the power of property. Ownership of the means of production = control and power. Proletariat: working class who would overthrow the bourgeoisie. (cid:862)calli(cid:374)g(cid:863) -> people would all make the same amount of money, doctors would actually be passionate about their job. If you allow this, you allow people to find their natural calling. Every part of our system is set up to enable capitalism to exploit people. Only way to get rid of inequality is to end capitalism. Capitalism makes child labour possible -> still an issue: access to health care. Took a wider lens look at the dimension of power. Status symbols: types and brand of clothes, area they live in, type of house you live in, house, car you drive. Bureaucracy is usually set up to influence those who are under the higher class. Social groups reach consensus on norms and values (not imposed on them).
