Document Summary

Looks at the level of inequality in a country. The lower the gini index, the more equal income is distributed in a society. The fact that there are lots of people who are desperate to work for low salaries, means that we can buy many things for cheaper prices. In many cases, poor countries and countries w/ high levels of inequality often have very unstable and corrupt governments, which are great places to do business. Poverty makes people vulnerable, while medication is tested on vulnerable people so that the general pop"n has safer products. We are draining the human capital as little as it might be and take advantage of their skills. Poverty is good for high-status figures to make themselves look good. We cannot use or moral viewpoints to judge this. Sweatshops are possibly the beginning of a virtuous cycle of improvement.
