70% of university student cheated at some point during high school. A culture that devalues honesty and a win at any cost strategy is encouraged. London 30% of sexual assault cases claimed to be unfounded. Most common form of abuse in families is sibling abuse. Historically violence against women was ignored until the 70s, David levinson: studied violence cross culturally, studied 90 different societies and found 16 had virtually no violence. Societies with less violence were characterized by cooperation, commitment, sharing and equality. Societies with more family violence: men control women lives, violent resolution to conflicts is acceptable, mothers bear major responsibility for child rearing: violent acts are normalized- reinterpreted as acceptable. Ex. sibling violence, slapping spouse, spanking a child. Violent conduct becomes part of ordinary family life.
