30 years ago only 5-10% of high school grads went to university and it was inexpensive. Now the number of students has increased by 3 times and getting a degree is much more costly. Today, there are many more grads flooding a tough marketplace the jobs of thirty years ago with benefits, job security and high wages are hard to find. 2011 1/3 university/college grads aged 25-29 end up in low skilled jobs. 2012 youth unemployment consistently double the national average of 7. 2% - (14. 8%) 2011 twice as many youth under thirty are working in non-permanent jobs/contract positions (11. 6%) Went to university of bc to interview students. Asked students if they felt like they were generation screwed. O(cid:374)e girl stated that (cid:449)e are(cid:374)"t ge(cid:374)eratio(cid:374) s(cid:272)re(cid:449)ed, just differe(cid:374)t. ti(cid:373)es ha(cid:448)e (cid:272)ha(cid:374)ged a(cid:374)d you can do business from your house. People feel now that it is more passion vs. paycheque.
