Currently: not many of these functions are being fulfilled by the family. What family used to mean in the past is not necessarily what it means in the present. People less likely to be honest when asked about sensitive topics. Only focuses on a few families, who are families with difficulties. Family of orientation does leave long term effect on people; but is not an all powerful determinant. Parents do influence you but you can change that. Mono = one; researchers emphasize the uniformity of family. State families have similar experiences, functions without looking at the complexity/differences of families. Romantic family of the past idea; nuclear family. Fail to acknowledge there has been problems with family in the past.
