And military domination: world economies: economic exchange rather than political rule. Logic of capitalism requires constant expansion of production. Systematically underdeveloped through a program of colonization, exploitation, sometimes war so they are made dependent on the core: semi-periphery, petty bourgeoisie, between core and periphery. Semi-industrialized, capitalist: crucial because they alleviate pressure that the core can place on periphery, mediate economic and political activity and prevent a completely polarized system, ex. Argentina, china, india, brazil, mexico, iran: core, capitalist.
