Makeup 10% of the health care occupations in canada. Makeup 43% of the health care occupations in canada. You consult with pharmacists more than any other health profession. The other two groups are dentists & pharmacists. The fastest growing group in numbers and importance. There is a significant variation in these professions. Primary care is the first point of contact for patients. Physician growth has been increasing faster than population growth. There are more male physicians in comparison to woman physicians, which is increasing. Nearly 60% of medical school students are women. Women are slightly less likely to remain practicing medicine. Medicine has the power to influence legislation. Other allied health professions do not meet all of these criteria. Getting a doctor costed a lot due to the costs of transportation. Medicine was not very useful & there was a lot of disagreement. Because of these changes, the medical occupation is becoming a profession.
