Political or state crime dates as early as 1898 by louis proal: topic has been around a while, but not necessarily in criminology programs. Ridiculed theories based on poverty, broken homes, or freudian fixations. This course serves as a paradigm shift. This course challenges the way we previously explained crime in north america. State crime: committed on behalf of the state, not individuals. Political white-collar crime: personal benefit of government officials.
