Crime general crime goes up as people get older. Studies also indicate that the general patterns presented previously hide the fact that the age crime relationship is different for different groups of offenders: some people are very active criminals during adolescence but age out of it very quickly: they become law abiding citizens, some offenders, labeled persistent or chronic offenders, remain actively involved in crime until they are very old, adolescent limited offender: during high school they did everything wrong and after 18 they become better, for some people on the other hand it becomes their life. Explanations: early socialization of children, gender roles / cultural models for adolescents and adults, movies usually send a message, difference in physical size and strength, asset to be big and strong, differences in hormones (ex: testosterone, men have higher testosterone, chivalry effect in the criminal justice system, women are more likely to get away with things.
