Lecture 7 : family, school, peers and the youth crime problem. Low levels of school commitment are linked to delinquency. Iq this isa debatable factor, whether through direct or indirect relationships. Tracking streaming of students into general or honours programs. Disability kids with ld or adhd are more likely to become delinquent. These create groups and segregation of young people. People use these indicators to make general assumptions about people. If someone is isolated, especially when they are young can lead to delinquency. Not because they aren"t smart but its because they are treated differently because they have this different label. Organization: the architecture of schools (1960s model had no windows in classroom, makes for a prison like environment) Teacher and parent discord also fules the problem of delinquency. Teaching styles do not reflect the times. Children from broken homes are more likely to be involved in delinquency.
