Under the radar; the sexual exploitation of young men in western canada. Literature that does focus on males, has almost exclusively focused on males in canada. Sexual exploitation: abuse of children and youth by exchanging sexual activity for money, drugs and/or basic needs. Young men are often visible and ignored in the issue of sexual exploitation. Preliminary study in 1994 of 50 young people (males and females) involved in the sexual exploitation trade in calgary: findings: most young people in the sex trade were forced or coerced there by an adult. Follow-up study in 2002 lead to a large scale study of young men involved in the sexual exploitation trade covering the four western provinces (bc, alberta, saskatchewan, Youth in care and custody network: organization run by youth and former youth from government care who advocate for youth in care. Sexual and physical violation: 75% sexual, 85% physical. The work life/ hustling of sexually exploited young men.
