Equity is not equality. it means compare them on the same level. Requires understanding vulnerable circumstances of prospective participants. A very important objective of aids research is working towards a vaccine to protect against hiv. Since aids is so prevalent in parts of africa ,it seems like a logical place to test hiv vaccines (the infection rate is high, so an effective vaccine would be recognized immediately). The experimental subjects will benefit if the vaccine is effective (and safe). Even subjects in the placebo group would be given the vaccine once it was shown to effective. However, once discovered, any effective vaccine would be far too expensive to be widely used in africa. Unethical because the benefits of the study wont go to this population and also there could be negative side effects to the vaccination. Some people are considered vulnerable because they can"t adequately give consent e. g. disabled people.
