Power and dominance: recall bartky"s discussion of power as it relates to the panopticon: Poweris not simply possessed and wielded; it is also something that can be struggled against and it can also be shared. The kind of power feminists are concerned with is shared power. This is called empowerment, a type of power that enable people to live more ful lling lives. According to visions of empowerment, power can be attained through knowledgeknowledge is not zero-sum. The acquisition of knowledge does not reduce the knowledge that others can also possess. Intersectionality: is a conceptual tool for analyzing differences recognizing that our identities are shaped by our experiences and social locations (bromley, 89) Tuesday, february 24, 2015: positionality: refers to individual locations in our communities and in the world. Understanding how oppression works and how we unwittingly and perhaps unwillingly participate in its continuation is not about guilt, blame or shame.
