Number of techniques can be used to convince: how sentences &paragraphs are structured, word choice, the 3 classical appeals. The 3 classical appeals: logos appeal to reason, ethos appeal to credibility, pathos appeal to emotion. All 3 can be used in a piece. Knowing what they encompass helps identify them in arguments. Comprises the use of statistics &hard data, factual evidence, rational arguments & common sense . Most persuasive &effective arguments rely on logos. Fallacies appear logical with superficial consideration: used to disguise absence of real reason. Appeal to credibility based on accepted authority of author.
