Archaeologists recover the material culture of past peoples and sometimes even the past. Thought process: utility of things can be symbolic, religious, materialistic. Everything is imprinted in the human skull: can define sex, illness, persons activities, persons relationship with the land, agriculture, etc. Diet, physical activity and lifestyle influence bone and health and are implicated in the etiology of osteoporosis. Context: the sight itself is just as important as the object being looked for. Before stepping onto sight loads of background information is needed, lots of research. Field work is always followed by lab work, where the artifacts are analyzed and interpreted. The information is collected to be shared to benefit people with interest, academics, or anyone who wants to access it. It tells the story of the past, the past can have multiple meanings and interpretations. Archaeology is the subfield of anthropology (the study of humankind cultural, biological, linguistics, archaeology). ~~archaeology and anthropology share an interest in human culture.
