Document Summary

Distinct sequences in mrna indicate start and finish sites. Each amino acid is encoded by 3 nucleotide called codon, ex/ aug encodes methionine. List of all the different words that rna can spell out. Redendent = multiple codons that spell out the same amino acid, the third position in a codon is a wobble codon, because its less important, and the first 2 letters are the most important in the codon. If you change the last letter it is less likely that you will change the codon. Uga = usually a stop codon, but sometimes it"s a trptophon. It"s the difference in the trna that recodgnizes the codons. Specific organisms have different preferred codons for specific amino acids. Example: in humans arginine is mostly represented by aga but in ecoli it uses cgu to represent arginine. The code is still conserved, it still means arginine, but between different organism they like using different.
