Document Summary
Ads: advertisements in a newspaper, magazine, and so on, that solicit job applicants for a position. Ads describe the job and the benefits, identify the employer, and tell those who are interested how to apply. Ads may lead to thousands of applicants for one job opening, many who are not qualified for the position. Blind ads: job ads that do not identify the employer. The cost of most advertising is determined by the size of the ad and the size of the distribution of the ad. Applicants prefer to learn basics about the job, hours of work, location, wage, and benefits from the ad itself. Recruiters must also determine whether to portray the job only in an attractive manner or whether to include potential negative aspects of the job. Realistic recruitment messages portray the job and organization as it really is by including both the positive and negative aspects.
