The most predominant central funding body when it comes to supporting music production in canada. Not just recording of music, but marketing, writing and promoting it. Canada media fund is funded by funds that are paid by canadian commercial radio as well as govt. grants. Support available for artists, song writers, managers of creative talent, record labels particularly independent ones, music publishers and distributors. Can be speci c as recording one song or extensive as launching the career of an artist. Underfunded in rst few years w rst annual budget at 200,000 dollars but 4 years later increase to 25 million- introduced over a 5 year period. 18 million for production support, 4. 5 million for promotion, 2. 5 million for business development. Industry association that represents canadas independent record labels- lobbyist for concerns and rights. Advocate very strongly for what they believe is in the best interest of the record labels. Advocating for the necessity of cancon regulations.
