Main question of sustainable development= preserve natural environment while allowing humans to pursue and improve the standards of living. Development policies based on economic growth since modernization have increased standards of living and life expectancy. Oda, and other specific programs have worked to increase literacy, health etc. in some countries. Have created tons of environmental problems: deforestation, depleted fisheries, dwindling clean water supplies. Environment is degrading because of human action. Some see globalization and continues economic development as a solution to environmental problems while others argue that development is the cause of environmental degradation. The impact of human activity on the natural environment is shaped by a variety of factors: Type of ecosystem in place in which people make their living and use environmental resources.
