Lecture 12 - chapter 5: stages of learning (part 2) You are able to perform in a open skilled environment (not stable) When you go from the first stage to the last stage: You are trying to pay attention to everything. You only focus on the important things. Being able to do things without error and least amount of energy expenditure. As you get to the automatic stage, you can correct errors when you know they don"t feel right. As you do something, the more you do it and better you get at it, you become more confident at it. Our bodies are made to reserve energy and use as little energy as possible. You know you have improved in something when you stop making mistakes as frequently. Every action that we do looks nice and fluid because we have learnt to free up the amounts of degrees of freedom.
